Introduction

The Boulder Rugby Athletic Club (BRAC) traces it’s roots back nearly forty years to 1966 with the formation of the Boulder Rugby Football Club (BRFC).  The club has a long- tradition of playing top-level amateur rugby, community involvement and promoting\supporting amateur rugby at the local level. One of the primary goals of the organization is to promote a life-long involvement with the game.  Over two hundred past players, including many of the original members, maintain their association with the club.

Charter

The Boulder Rugby Athletic Club is a not-for-profit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) status. The purpose of the organization is to promote amateur rugby throughout the Boulder community. The club currently sponsors men’s, women’s, high school boys, high school girls and youth programs. At all levels of the organization, participation is emphasized. All of the programs within the organization are members of the United States of America Rugby Football Union (USARFU) and the Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union (ERRFU).

Funding

Operational funding for the organization comes primarily from club member’s dues, local business sponsorship and organization fundraising efforts.  Operational costs include membership dues to USARFU and ERRFU, playing field rental, equipment, referee travel and referee compensation.  There are no paid positions in the organization; all activities are performed and coordinated by volunteers.

Community Involvement

The BRAC has emphasized a positive profile in the community and community involvement from the beginning. The club regularly participates in the Boulder Emergency Family Assistance annual Share a Gift and Holiday Food Basket event, set up of the Bolder Boulder Race Course, Boulder Creek Festival, Boulder ResFest and security for CU Football games. Additionally BRAC has held many fundraisers for individuals that have needs related to family emergencies or serious injury (both rugby and non rugby related).
